Midlands Team Leader - Ecology (Associate Director/Technical Director)

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Midlands Team Leader to join their Ecology team as an Associate Director or Technical Director. The successful candidate will oversee and drive the regional team, providing leadership, inspiration, and strategic growth to ensure the delivery of high-quality ecological projects. This role requires a balance of leadership and hands-on technical expertise within a dynamic and client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Midlands Ecology team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to facilitate their professional development and project delivery.
  • Drive business development activities to expand the team's project portfolio and market presence in the region.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of diverse ecological projects, ensuring high standards of technical quality, client satisfaction, and profitable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other regional leaders to contribute to the overall growth and evolution of the Ecology business unit within the organization.
  • Engage in hands-on technical work as needed to support project delivery and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Substantial experience in ecological consulting, including a proven track record of successful project delivery and client management.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
  • Business acumen and demonstrated experience in driving business development activities, such as client relationship management and pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Professional accreditation and chartered status with relevant ecological or environmental bodies (e.g., CIEEM, CIEMA).

Day-to-day

  • Providing strategic guidance and oversight to the Midlands Ecology team.
  • Actively engaging in business development and client relationship activities.
  • Collaborating with other regional leaders to align strategies and initiatives.
  • Mentoring and supporting the professional growth of team members.
  • Contributing to the technical delivery of ecological projects as required.
