Responsibilities

As an Associate Ecologist, you will:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver ecological services for renewable energy, residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on ecological assessments, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and biodiversity net gain strategies.
  • Support the Senior Ecology Management Team in project delivery, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, planning policies, and best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, offering innovative solutions to meet their project needs.
  • Mentor and support junior ecologists, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Champion the integration of cutting-edge ecological practices into project designs, contributing to sustainable and resilient outcomes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in delivering ecological services for large-scale projects, particularly in renewable energy or urban development.
  • Strong knowledge of UK ecological legislation, planning frameworks, and best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • A proactive and innovative mindset, with a passion for driving sustainable solutions.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM) is desirable.

Day-to-Day

Your daily activities will include:

  • Conducting ecological surveys and assessments to inform project designs and planning applications.
  • Preparing high-quality technical reports and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
  • Liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Supporting the development of junior team members through training and mentoring.
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in ecology and sustainability.
  • Contributing to the growth of the ecology team by identifying new business opportunities and fostering client relationships.
