Embankment Group is proud to partner with a well-established multidisciplinary property and environmental consultancy to recruit a talented Ecologist for their in-house team based in Norwich.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team with a growing pipeline of projects across the East of England. The role offers a diverse workload, ranging from early-stage ecological appraisals to protected species surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and large-scale habitat initiatives.

Responsibilities
As an Ecologist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality ecological services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and conducting ecological surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs).
- Supporting Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and habitat-led projects.
- Undertaking protected species surveys, such as badger and reptile surveys.
- Preparing clear, technically robust reports for planning submissions.
- Liaising directly with clients and coordinating with in-house and external specialists.
- Assisting with project management tasks, including programming and budgeting.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A relevant degree in Ecology or a related discipline.
- At least three years of consultancy experience.
- Membership of, or eligibility for, the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
- Proven experience in producing PEAs, BNG assessments, and protected species survey reports.
- A solid understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- A full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel.
- Specialised ecological survey skills, such as ornithology.
- Experience with GIS or QGIS software.
- CSCS card.
Day-to-Day
Your typical day as an Ecologist will involve:
- Planning and conducting ecological surveys in the field.
- Analyzing data and preparing detailed reports for clients and planning authorities.
- Collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Managing project timelines and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
- Engaging with clients to provide expert advice and updates on project progress.
