Our client, a leading consultancy, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Biodiversity Consultant to join their team. This is a permanent opportunity to lead and grow the UK Nature and Biodiversity team, driving strategic growth in nature-based solutions and ecosystem services portfolios. Responsibilities
As the Lead Biodiversity Consultant, you will:
- Oversee and implement the growth strategy for the UK Nature and Biodiversity team.
- Lead and mentor a team of ecology professionals, fostering an innovative and positive team culture.
- Develop and refine the nature-based solutions strategy, ensuring alignment with client needs and industry advancements.
- Act as a technical and advisory leader, providing expertise on complex projects and service offerings.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities, ensuring the successful submission of proposals.
- Collaborate across disciplines to deliver holistic solutions addressing climate resilience and biodiversity challenges.
- Maintain and enhance the highest standards of technical quality, driving innovation and creativity.
- Take ownership of the team’s financial performance and implement changes when necessary.
- Contribute to corporate biodiversity strategies and nature-positive initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven experience in leading and growing teams or service offerings.
- Strong knowledge of the UK ecological landscape, including biodiversity net gain, nature-based solutions, and ecosystem services.
- Expertise in mentoring and coaching junior staff to develop their skills and foster a collaborative team environment.
- A client-focused approach with the ability to provide innovative solutions to complex ecological challenges.
- Extensive experience in ecological impact assessments, habitat management plans, and biodiversity net gain strategies.
- Familiarity with corporate strategies, materiality assessments, and nature-related disclosure frameworks such as TNFD and SBTN.
- A passion for delivering positive environmental outcomes and addressing the climate and nature crisis.
Day-to-Day
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Leading the UK Nature and Biodiversity team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects.
- Engaging with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated approaches to environmental challenges.
- Supporting team members in their professional development through mentoring and guidance.
- Monitoring and managing project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to maintain a competitive edge.
