They don't just deliver reports—they deliver impactful change. As their team continues to grow, they are searching for an experienced and passionate Senior Ecologist to lead ecological initiatives, primarily focusing on Sizewell C and associated infrastructure projects.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced ecologist seeking to make a meaningful impact by shaping biodiversity strategies, overseeing habitat management, and influencing one of the UK’s most pivotal infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Ecologist, you will be at the forefront of ecological delivery, influencing key project decisions and outcomes. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development and review of habitat management plans.

  • Preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality ecological reports such as PEAs, EcIAs, mitigation strategies, and ecological working method statements.
  • Undertaking, managing, and evaluating ecological surveys (including Phase 1/UKHab and protected species surveys).
  • Taking ownership of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and overseeing their production.
  • Planning and executing field survey logistics and implementing survey methodologies.
  • Conducting and compiling project-specific desk studies and literature reviews.
  • Translating data into actionable insights for ecological survey, monitoring, and management reports.
  • Acting as or overseeing the role of Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) for on-site supervision and support.

  • Ability to conduct and guide ecological field surveys for various British wildlife (e.g., bats, badger, birds, otters, water vole, and great crested newts). While species specialisms are welcomed, a balanced understanding of priority species and habitats is essential.
  • Associate or Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wildlife legislation, policy developments, and ecological standards.
  • A relevant degree in areas such as Ecology, Biodiversity, Conservation Management, or Environmental Science.
