Senior Ecologist
Location: Manchester
Salary:£40,000 - £45,000
An opportunity has become available for a Senior Ecologist in Manchester through Embankment Group.
This role would suit an experienced ecologist who is looking for varied consultancy work, project responsibility and the chance to develop within a larger ecology team.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will support the delivery of ecological projects across a range of sectors. You will manage surveys, prepare reports, liaise with clients and help coordinate project delivery from early-stage advice through to completion.
The role offers a good balance of technical ecology, project management and team collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Deliver ecological surveys, assessments and reports.
- Manage smaller projects and support larger schemes.
- Coordinate fieldwork, data collection and reporting.
- Prepare PEAs, EcIAs, mitigation strategies and related technical documents.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and internal project teams.
- Support protected species and habitat-related work.
- Manage deadlines, budgets and project communication.
- Assist with mentoring and supporting junior ecologists.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Experience working in ecological consultancy.
- Good knowledge of UK ecology legislation and guidance.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Experience with habitat surveys, protected species work and ecological assessment.
- Confidence managing workloads and communicating with clients.
- A relevant degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or similar.
- CIEEM membership, or progress towards membership.
- Protected species licences would be beneficial.
