Senior Environmental Consultant – Dublin

Embankment Group is recruiting on behalf of an established environmental consultancy seeking to appoint a Senior Environmental Consultant to its Dublin team.

The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of projects within renewable energy, infrastructure, water, residential development and environmental management. This position will combine project leadership, environmental assessment, technical reporting, fieldwork coordination and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental projects from initial instruction through to successful completion, ensuring budgets, programmes and quality standards are achieved.
  • Lead client communication and coordinate with contractors, technical specialists and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review technical reports supporting Environmental Impact Assessments, environmental licensing and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling, monitoring and site investigation programmes.
  • Supervise field activities where required, including trial pits, drilling works, geophysical surveys, peat probing, gouge coring and surface water or groundwater monitoring.
  • Manage subcontractors and multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Identify and manage project risks, commercial requirements and delivery priorities.
  • Prepare fee proposals, tenders and expressions of interest.
  • Support the development of client relationships and future business opportunities.
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to their technical and professional development.
  • Maintain technical expertise through relevant training and Continuing Professional Development.
  • Complete project administration, including time recording, invoicing, health and safety documentation and technical templates.

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Earth Science or another relevant discipline.
  • Strong professional experience within environmental consultancy or a closely related sector.
  • Substantial experience delivering or managing Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • A detailed understanding of Irish and European environmental legislation, planning policy and the EIA process.
  • Proven project management experience, including responsibility for budgets, deadlines, technical inputs and client expectations.
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Confidence working with clients, regulators, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commercial awareness and experience supporting tenders, proposals or business development activities.
  • Competence using Microsoft Office and standard project management systems.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland when required.
