Based in Bury St Edmunds, this role offers flexibility for hybrid working and occasional travel to project sites and offices across the UK.
ResponsibilitiesAs the Technical Director – Ecology, you will:
- Provide technical leadership on complex Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA), and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure high technical standards across project teams.
- Collaborate with specialists in planning, hydrology, landscape, noise, and engineering to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support sector leads in identifying and securing new project opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, fostering trust and repeat business.
- Mentor and develop senior and early-career ecologists, enhancing the technical capability of the team.
- Contribute to business strategy and regional growth initiatives.

QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess:
- Significant experience in delivering and overseeing complex ecological projects within a consultancy environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
- Demonstrable project management expertise, including financial oversight and resource planning.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- A degree in Ecology or a related discipline.
- Membership at an appropriate level with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
- A full UK driving licence.
