Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Take charge of the strategic direction and growth of the Scottish Ecology team, leveraging market insights and expertise.
- Work closely with the GB Senior Ecology Management Team to foster a high-performing, inclusive, and agile working environment.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key clients while identifying opportunities to tap into new markets.
- Ensure compliance with prevailing legislation, internal procedures, and industry standards across all activities.
- Stay at the forefront of professional development to uphold exceptional technical standards within the discipline.
- Mentor, guide, and nurture junior staff to support their professional growth and skill development.
- Spearhead the delivery of high-value, large-scale projects with a focus on biodiversity enhancement and innovative solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
To excel in this position, you should possess the following:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience within ecological consultancy, ideally in the UK and preferably in Scotland.
- An advanced degree in ecology or a related field.
- Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and eligibility for Chartership status.
- Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to develop, inspire, and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to develop lasting client partnerships and achieve mutual success.
- Demonstrated competence in project management, including financial forecasting, budgeting, and ensuring cost control measures.
- A proven history of delivering impactful large-scale projects with demonstrable ecological and biodiversity benefits.

- Overseeing and guiding your team to deliver best-in-class ecological consultancy services.
- Liaising with clients to identify tailored solutions that align with their project goals.
- Managing project lifecycles, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
